HP Chromebox G2 Now Available For Pre-Order, Ships May 30

The HP Chromebox G2 is now available for pre-order in a number of online retailers in the United States, and the device will reportedly start shipping by May 30th. The device was originally unveiled by the device manufacturer back in January 2018, and it serves as the successor to the HP Chromebox, which was launched back in 2014.

The online retailers TigerDirect and MacMall are currently offering for pre-order five variants of the HP Chromebox G2. The cheapest variant of the device, which costs $208, is equipped with an Intel Celeron 3865U processor clocked at up to 1.8GHz, and this unit includes 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Another variant with the Intel Celeron 3865U processor is also available for $229, and it likely includes a keyboard and mouse in the box. Meanwhile, the model of HP Chromebox G2 that is powered by an Intel Core i5-7300U CPU has a price tag of $574. This variant of the device includes 8GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The retailers also offer two variants of the HP Chromebox G2 that are both powered by the Intel Core i7-8650U CPU, which is clocked at a maximum frequency of 4.2GHz. The cheaper of the two variants cost $720 and it contains 8GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, while the more expensive variant has a price tag of $825 and it includes 16GB of RAM and 64GB of solid-state storage.

The device manufacturer already provided details regarding the design and connectivity features of the HP Chromebox G2 when it was unveiled last January. The device includes a variety of ports including one USB Type-C port, three USB 3.0 Type-A ports, two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, an Ethernet port, and an HDMI port for the display. In addition, the device also includes a microSD card slot on the front of the device. The HP Chromebox G2 also supports Bluetooth 4.2 and 802.11ac Wi-Fi. The company also previously mentioned that the product will ship with either a 65-watt or a 90-watt power adapter. Reports also claim that the HP Chromebox G2 will support Android applications, although the product has yet to appear on the list of Chrome OS devices that support Android apps.
