LG Korea has just confirmed that the upcoming LG G7 ThinQ will sport a 6.1-inch QHD+ (3120 x 1440) LCD display, so we won’t get an OLED panel here, even though one was included on the LG V30 and V30S ThinQ. Having said that, the LG G7 ThinQ’s display will sport a 19.5:9 display aspect ratio, and a whopping 1,000 nits brightness, which should make it extremely easy to use this display in direct sunlight. On top of that, it was revealed that the display will offer 100-percent DCI-P3 color coverage, and this new display will be called the ‘Super Bright Display’.
Now, the company released some additional detail regarding the G7 ThinQ’s display, by saying that it will reduce battery drain, as it will consume 30-percent less power than the display that was included on the LG G6, the G7 ThinQ’s predecessor, and LG claims that its new algorithm will play a huge role when it comes to reducing power consumption. The LG G7 ThinQ will also come with an option which will let you hide its display notch, by including black bars on both left and right sides of that display notch, as we’ve seen on some other phones out there, like the Huawei P20 series, for example. It remains to be seen how well will that look on the LG G7 ThinQ, though, as the device will not sport an OLED panel, so the display notch will be more visible on its display than on an OLED panel. The LG G7 ThinQ will also come with thinner side bezels than the LG G6, mainly thanks to this new display.
On top of everything, LG also said that the LG G7 ThinQ will ship with an ‘Eco Mode’ which will maximize battery efficiency, while keeping the display brightness ‘well-balanced’. The ‘Cinema’ and ‘Sports’ modes will also be a part of the package, these are also display modes, by the way. The G7 ThinQ will also ship with something called an ‘Advanced Mode’, and it will let you adjust R (Red), G (Green), and B (Blue) colors the way you want, as well as temperature, saturation, hue, and sharpness. Having said that, the LG G7 ThinQ will be announced on May 2, which is right around the corner.
