Meizu Introduces HALO & POP Bluetooth Earphones

In addition to announcing the Meizu 15 and 15 Plus smartphones in China yesterday, the company has also introduced two new pairs of earphones for the Chinese market. Before we get into that, it is worth noting that the company confirmed that both the Meizu 15 and 15 Plus will make their way to global markets, and the same goes for the Meizu 15 Lite, which was not introduced in China, but Meizu did reach out to confirm that the phone is coming, while we also know its specs and design by now, click here if you’d like to know more.

Meizu’s new earphones are called ‘HALO’ and ‘POP’, and it seems like they will be exclusive to China, at least for now. Both of these are Bluetooth earphones, though they’re quite different in terms of the design. The Meizu HALO comes with a built-in laser light in the cable which flashes with the music beat, and it uses OSRAM laser diode, so the brightness is a lot higher compared to regular LED light (5x). These earphones also come with CORNING custom side-emitting glass fiber, and users in China can also install a custom app which lets them adjust laser brightness and some other functions. These are in-ear earbuds, and they come with three buttons, including buttons for playback control, volume adjustment, and Bluetooth pairing / call capabilities. These earphones have a frequency range 20Hz – 20KHz, and sensitivity of 96db at 1KHz. Bluetooth 4.1 is built-in here, with Qualcomm’s aptX lossless-audio tech, and a tri-band equalizer. Three different earcups come in the box (S/M/L), silicone ones, while a 360mAh battery is included here as well. These earbuds take about 1.5 hours to charge up fully, while the company claims that you can listen to music up to 5 hours if the laser is powered on, if it’s not, these earbuds can provide you with up to 15 hours of music playback. The Meizu HALO earbuds are priced at 999 Yuan ($159) in China, and these are actually limited edition earbuds, as Meizu is manufacturing only 10,000 units.

The Meizu POP earbuds are truly wireless, water-resistant earbuds which weigh only 5.8 grams, per unit. These earbuds come with touch interaction, and come with their own charging case, while we’re looking at wireless charging here. Meizu says that these earbuds are ideal for fitness, as pretty much any other truly wireless earbuds. The Meizu POP earbuds come with Bluetooth 4.2 with support for Meizu Voice Assistant, and their frequency range is 20Hz – 20KHz. These earbuds have a sensitivity of 101dB at 1kHz, and impedance of 16Ω. The microphone is built into these earphones, while the case itself weighs 48 grams. That charging case packs in a 700mAh battery, while the earphones themselves have an 85mAh battery on the inside, and you can use them for about 3 hours before they’ll need to be charged up. The Meizu POP earphones are priced at 499 Yuan ($79) in China. Both the Meizu HALO and Meizu POP earphones will go on sale on April 29.
