The Moto G6 and the Moto G6 Play both showed up over the weekend on the Fry’s Electronics website, suggesting the two phones are moving ever closer to an official launch announcement from Motorola. Considering the devices have yet to be made official, their respective pages on Fry’s have since been removed. Though cache versions of both pages are still accessible through the links below.
The pages themselves do not provide too much in the way of new information but do add further confirmation to previous leaks and details. What is of particular interest, however, with these being retailer listings they do provide a fairly solid glimpse of what the price of the two phones will likely be at launch in the US. For example, the standard Moto G6 seemingly will be priced at $249.99, while the Play version will be priced at a slightly more affordable price, $199.99. Likewise, and in spite of the two listings not providing firm details on when the two devices will launch or become available to pre-order, both listings do clearly state the devices will begin to ship midway through next month, May. With the standard Moto G6 likely to start shipping a week before the Play version does.
As a $50 price difference might suggest, these two phones are expected to be more similar than different overall, although there will be a number of fundamental differences between them. For example, the standard Moto G6 will arrive with a dual rear camera setup, compared to the G6 Play which will only be equipped with a single rear camera. In contrast, the Play model will be powered by a 4,000 mAh battery compared to the 3,000 mAh battery on offer with the standard version. There is also a difference in the processor department with the standard model powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450, compared to the Play version which draws on the help of a Snapdragon 427 SoC. In addition, while both models will feature a 5.7-inch “Max Vision” display, they will differ in terms of the resolution – in favor of the standard model. Though both models will sport the same 18:9 aspect ratio.
