It seems like HMD Global has started pushing out major software updates two Nokia-branded smartphones, the Nokia 3 and Nokia 7 Plus. Now, it’s worth noting that we’re talking about stable updates here, the Nokia 3 is currently getting Android 8.0 Oreo, while the Nokia 7 Plus is moving to Android 8.1 Oreo. It is worth noting that the Nokia 3 originally launched with Android 7.0 Nougat back in February, while the Nokia 7 Plus arrived with Android 8.0 Oreo arrived in February as well.
Needless to say, an update from Android 7.0 Nougat to Android 8.0 Oreo brings more features and general changes than an update from Android 8.0 Oreo to 8.1 Oreo. Android 8.0 Oreo brings smart text selection, and ‘autofill’ which will remember your logins for convenience, though it will require your permission beforehand, of course. The picture-in-picture mode also comes with Android 8.0 Oreo, while the same can be said for Notification Dots and Android Instant Apps. Android 8.0 Oreo will also take better care of apps which run in the background, while some visual changes have also been included in the update. Now, as far as Android 8.1 Oreo is concerned, it brings battery consumption notifications, while some interface changes have also been introduced in the update, but some minor ones. Some battery-related tweaks have also been implemented,
Noa, as far as the devices are concerned, the Nokia 3 and Nokia 7 Plus are noticeably different. The Nokia 3 is an entry-level handset which sports a 5-inch HD display, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage, while the Nokia 7 Plus is a considerably more powerful phone. The Nokia 7 Plus comes with a 6-inch fullHD+ display, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage. The Nokia 7 Plus’ processor is also considerably more powerful than the one in the Nokia 3, while the device also sports thinner bezels, and looks more premium in more or less every way. It’s also worth noting that the price difference between these two phones is quite huge, so they’re definitely not aiming the same userbase. In any case, updates for both of these devices are already rolling out, and if they’re not available at this very moment, they will be really soon, as this is a staged rollout.
