Nubia had announced recently that its ‘Red Devil’ gaming smartphone will be announced on April 19, and the company’s CEO has just published a first image of the upcoming smartphone via Weibo (Chinese social network). The ‘Red Devil’ smartphone will be launched by Nubia’s ‘Red Magic’ sub-brand, and it will be a direct competitor to Xiaomi’s recently-announced gaming handset, the Black Shark. The Red Devil gaming handset will also compete with the Razer Phone, though the Razer Phone was announced quite some time ago at this point, and it features the Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core SoC, which is Qualcomm’s last-gen SoC, while the Black Shark features the Snapdragon 845 SoC, the same chip that Nubia will include in the Red Devil smartphone.
Now, the image that Ni Fei published does not exactly paint us a whole picture, as far as the design is concerned, but you do get to see the phone’s bottom corner in this image, along with Nubia’s branding. Based on this image, we can see that the phone will be made out of metal, and that it will sport a U-shaped antenna design as well. The phone will, presumably, sport two antennas on its body, one of the bottom and one on the top. There seems to be a cutout on the phone’s bottom as well, and this is either the phone’s loudspeaker, one of them, or perhaps some sort of a cooling system. The Xiaomi Black Shark ships with liquid cooling, so Nubia may include something similar in the Red Devil handset as well, we’ll just have to wait and see. Now, as far as specs are concerned, we really do not have all that much info at the moment, but we can make some educated guessed based on the info that we have thus far, of course.
Now, the Nubia Red Devil gaming handset will be fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor, while it will probably ship in two versions. A more affordable variant of the phone will ship with 6GB of RAM, while the other model will include 8GB of RAM. The Nubia Red Devil will include a large display, we’re probably looking at a 6-inch display here, and that display will probably sport a fullHD+ (2160 x 1080) resolution. Stereo speakers are also expected to be included here, and chances are Nubia’s in-house UI will be placed on top of Android.
