Prior to OnePlus 6’s official launch, a couple of its cases have leaked, showing some of the hardware changes the Android flagship is expected to come with. Both the photos show a different case, with one of them made out of silicon, while the other one is a hard-shell case. The cutouts for the phone’s two cameras, LED flash, and fingerprint scanner are in line with the leaked images that revealed vertically aligned cameras and a capsule-shaped fingerprint scanner below it. What’s odd here are the cutouts for physical keys on the sides of both cases.
OnePlus usually places an Alert Slider on the left side of its smartphones, right above the volume keys. Interestingly, the silicon case has a cut out for the Alert Slider on the right side, above the power key. The hard-shell case, on the other hand, includes a bigger cut out on its left side that has enough space to house both the volume keys and the alert slider. In a recent tweet, OnePlus posted a teaser video for its upcoming flagship accompanied by a caption – “Slide to focus with the Alert Slider” – hinting at its added use as a toggle for adjusting the camera focus. There was no mention of it changing position from where it has been since the days of OnePlus 2. Besides this, the silicon case shows a cut out for a 3.5mm headphone jack, speaker grill, and a USB port on the bottom.
The company’s executives have already confirmed the presence of a display notch on the OnePlus 6, which lead to a widespread criticism from the consumers, forcing OnePlus’ CEO Pete Lau to announce a software feature to hide the notch. A recent leak about the phone not only revealed its frontal design but also suggested a triple-digit DxOMark rating for the device’s dual-camera setup. OnePlus has already been confirmed to come sporting up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of flash memory, while the company is also expected to bring lower-end variants with 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage options. The device is rumored to be announced on May 5 in China, but the company has yet to announce any such plans.
