Designers at Phone Industry have now released a video showing off a rendering of the long-rumored OnePlus 6, based on the current set of leaked information and images about the device. The video was uploaded to the YouTube channel on April 18 and, because the company itself is responsible for some of the leaks, should be a fairly accurate representation. However, it’s worth noting that there are likely minor differences and the device being shown should not be viewed as representative of exactly what should be expected. Bearing that in mind, the designer behind the video has said that available color and materials, in particular, are still unknown. So the device is shown in an aluminum frame design with accents and the back plate is colored similarly to previous OnePlus devices. That means a lava red, black, or white finish which, in this case, is shown being coated with glass.
Aside from those attributes, the video also showcases the OnePlus 6’s expected features. For example, it’s shown with a vertically-oriented dual-camera array on the back, set just above a fingerprint scanner. A dual tone LED flash resides between those two components. It also prominently shows off the two screen modes that are currently anticipated to feature on the OnePlus 6, once it launches. That includes a notch mode and a notch-hidden mode for the display, which nearly reaches from edge to edge in every direction. Along the bottom edge, the designers showcase the USB Type-C port which this device will almost certainly charge through. That’s placed with a standard 3.5mm headphone jack on one side and the single bottom-firing speaker on the other. The left-hand edge, meanwhile, holds the OnePlus 6’s power switch and volume rocker. The power switch is accented with lava red.
The whole package is pretty stunning but, as already alluded too, may not be entirely accurate. Some rumors have speculated that the OnePlus 6 could be available with a wood-based back cover. That wouldn’t be all that unusual and the company could even opt to allow for swappable back plates. In that case, a rear design similar to what’s shown in the virtualized renders wouldn’t be out of the question either. With regard to other expectations, the OnePlus 6 should ship with all of the latest internals found in other Android handsets of the flagship variety. That will likely include a Snapdragon 845 SoC backed by either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and at least 128GB of storage. That’s anticipated to be packed behind a 6.2-inch AMOLED screen, with a OnePlus tweaked Android 8.1 Oreo running the show. Whether that turns out to be true, of course, remains to be seen. But it shouldn’t be too long of a wait if still another speculation is to be believed. There may actually be another variant released in honor of Marvel’s Infinity War movie, which would nearly necessitate a launch in the very near future.
