OnePlus 6 May Boast Triple-Digit DxOMark Camera Rating

The OnePlus 6 may boast a triple-digit DxOMark camera rating, according to a newly leaked render that recently surfaced on Chinese social media platform Weibo. The image that can be seen above has been shared by an industry insider without any further clarification, making it unclear whether it’s meant to be a leak or just a concept render. The device itself appears to be in lines with recent supposed sightings of the OnePlus 6, with its display notch also corresponding to the image OnePlus itself shared last month, both in terms of size and contents. The cutout should accommodate a front-facing camera, earpiece, and a proximity sensor, being centered at the very top of the OnePlus 6’s screen.

While OnePlus devices were never considered as featuring some of the best mobile cameras compared to their peers, the Chinese phone maker already hinted it’s looking to significantly improve the imaging capabilities of its next Android offering. DxOMark so far awarded triple-digit scores to only two handsets – the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro, having asserted the duo boasts the best mobile cameras ever created. The French firm rated the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus at 99, with Google’s Pixel 2 being given a 98 score on the company’s non-finite scale. DxOMark never reviewed the OnePlus 5T but gave the camera of the OnePlus 5 a score of 87. The OnePlus 6 is expected to feature a dual-camera setup similar to the one found in its predecessor, though the two sensors are now likely to be centered near the top of the phablet’s rear plate instead of being positioned in one of its corners, according to previous leaks.

The OEM already confirmed that its next Android flagship will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 system-on-chip and be made available in multiple variants, with the most premium one boasting 256GB of internal flash memory and 8GB of RAM. The firm also promised to deliver a screen-to-body ratio in the ballpark of 90-percent, with the latest render being in line with that promise. The OnePlus 6 started being teased by the manufacturer more than a week back and is likely to launch by early May, shortly before it begins retailing globally.
