Snapdragon 710 Coming As First SD700 Series Chip: Rumor

During the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona last month, Qualcomm had introduced the Snapdragon 700 series of processors, and Roland Quandt is claiming that the Snapdragon 710 will be the first processor from that series to be announced by the company. Mr. Quandt published that piece of information on his official Twitter page, while also mentioning that the Snapdragon 710’s model number will be ‘SDM710’. That is basically all info that he shared, at least thus far.

Now, thanks to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 700 series announcement, we pretty much know what to expect. The Snapdragon 710 will be a mid-range processor, there’s no doubt about that, and Qualcomm confirmed at MWC 2018 that it will start sampling Snapdragon 700 series chips in the first half of this year. The company failed to mention when can we expect to see first Snapdragon 700 series chips hit the market, though. Now, as already mentioned, the Snapdragon 700 series chips will be mid-range processors, but Qualcomm did say that these chips are aimed at the upper-mid-range sector, so we’ll probably see rather powerful mid-range phones ship with these processors. The Snapdragon 700 series chips, including the Snapdragon 710, of course, will ship with some AI features found in some of the company’s higher-end chips, as they will include Qualcomm’s AI engine.

On top of that, the Snapdragon 700 series of chips will include various other improvements over the company’s Snapdragon 600 series chips, improvements in the camera, battery and general efficiency departments. The Snapdragon 710, and all other Snapdragon 700 series chips, will include the Hexagon Vector Processor, Spectra ISP, Kryo CPU, and the Adreno Visual Processing subsystem. Those chips are also expected to be around 30-percent better as far as power efficiency is concerned, in comparison to their predecessors, while they will also support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4+ fast charging technology, and the same can be said for Bluetooth 5. Some benefits in terms of connectivity have also been announced, and so on. All in all, the Snapdragon 710 is expected to arrive soon, it will quite probably be announced in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for that.
