Meizu’s latest premium mid-range smartphones include the self-titled Meizu 15 and Meizu 15 Plus, both of which pack an identical design, but not identical specs or sizes. Sporting a Snapdragon 660 and 4GB of RAM, the Meizu 15 comes in a bit more affordable than the 15 Plus, and offers a comparable experience without the extra bulk. The 5.46-inch 1080p AMOLED panel manufactured by Samsung features a familiar 16:9 aspect ratio with ultra tiny 1.1mm bezels on the left and right sides, and no notch up top, although it does have larger top and bottom bezels than the many newly announced phones do.
The Meizu 15 Plus, on the other hand, is powered by a beefier Samsung Exynos 8895 processing package, 6GB of RAM and an upgraded 5.95-inch Quad-HD AMOLED panel manufactured by Samsung. It’s got the same 16:9 aspect ratio and tiny 1.1mm bezels on the left and right sides, and both phones are an elegant 7.2mm thin with a 3.5mm audio jack included. While the batteries are non-removable, the 3,000mAh battery on the Meizu 15, and the 3,500mAh battery in the Meizu 15 Plus are designed to last through a full day thanks to the new Flyme OS 7, which runs atop Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Meizu has refreshed the overall design in many ways, including a brushed metal back, gorgeous 3D printed antenna lines with a unique design pattern, and a new circular home button.
This new circular home button functions the same way as previous generation mBack buttons do, including a lightning-fast fingerprint scanner built inside, and the ability to choose from the mBack navigation button or on-screen navigation buttons, depending on your tastes. Meizu is also upping its camera game, utilizing the same 12-megapixel Sony IMX380 sensor and f/1.8 lens that’s on the Google Pixel 2, as well as a secondary 20-megapixel Sony IMX360 sensor with telephoto lens, and a unique ring flash design below. All in all both phones look to be some pretty compelling packages when they land in the near future, but we don’t have an exact release date at this time, so you’ll just have to hold your breath while you wait.
