Weekly Poll: Does The 'LG Watch Timepiece' Get You Excited For Smartwatches Again?

It’s no secret that smartwatches for the most part haven’t caught on in a way that manufacturers have been hoping, even a few years after the first smartwatches were released. That is to say that smartwatches haven’t really caught on in a meaningful way, at least not for Android Wear, now known as Wear OS. Perhaps that will change though with the LG Watch Timepiece, a new smartwatch coming from LG that is reportedly going to be the first watch from the company that will have Wear OS right from the get-go and also a hybrid smartwatch.

If you’re like what is probably a large portion of consumers who have considered purchasing or have already purchased a smartwatch then you may have felt things are little bit lackluster. Whatever the reasoning, smartwatches have a chance to go through some shifts and Wear OS in general has an opportunity to perhaps capture the market’s attention again. There is much already known about the LG Watch Timepiece and on paper it seems to be on par with other watches. It comes with 4GB of storage which is the same as just about every other smartwatch, but it also has 768MB of RAM, which is a bit more than some.

In addition to all that it has a stainless steel body, which is really nothing too far removed from other devices, but LG is also adding in mechanical components, so this will be a bit different than what consumers are used to with Wear OS. It should come in two color options and be offered for around $250, though an exact price is not known just yet. By all accounts it seems like the LG Watch Timepiece could be an interesting smartwatch and a nice departure from the norm. Time will tell of course whether or not LG’s latest smartwatch will get people excited again. Based on what is known so far, does the watch have you intrigued?
