Xiaomi Brings Mi Gift Cards To India To Spur Digital Gifting

Xiaomi has made its Mi Gift Cards available in India, allowing users to send e-gift cards for the company’s online store. The China-based firm’s new offerings are functionally similar to Amazon’s own gift cards available in India. They can be purchased from a dedicated page on the company’s website where customers can also select a background photo meant to be used for the cards, with Xiaomi also allowing them to use their own images. The value of available gift cards ranges from Rs. 100 ($1.54) to Rs. 10,000 ($154).

Gift card recipients will obtain them via email and be able to redeem them with their Mi accounts instantly, Xiaomi said. Once added to an account, a Mi Gift Card will be valid for up to a year and the receiver can use not more than ten such cards simultaneously while placing an order. Besides a customizable image, a personalized message containing up to 200 characters can also be entered along with the details of both the sender and receiver. Consumers are also able to time their gifts in case they’re shopping for a special occasion in advance. Xiaomi supports a variety of payment options including credit and debit cards, as well as UPI.

Upon receiving a gift card via email, a receiver can head to the ‘Add Gift Card’ section under ‘My Account’ on the Mi Store to enter the 16-digit card number along with a six-digit pin received via the same email. The value of the gift card will then be added to the recipient’s account. Since the gift cards are non-cancelable, Xiaomi urges senders to take extra care while entering the recipient’s details to ensure accuracy. The receiver can always check the available balance and expiry date of their gift cards from the same section of the Mi Store app and website which is also used for redeeming gift cards.
