Xiaomi Redmi S2 Real-Life Images & Hands-On Video Leak

The upcoming Xiaomi Redmi S2 has just surfaced in a number of real-life images (posted by ‘SvetAndroida’, but the images have been removed since), and a hands-on video. This handset’s name first surfaced in mid-April, and since then, the phone got certified by TENAA and the 3C authority in China, while the phone’s price tag also surfaced recently. Having said that, these newly-leaked images and a hands-on video pretty much confirm the phone’s design.

The Xiaomi Redmi S2 will be made out of metal, and it will actually resemble some other Xiaomi-branded devices as far as the design is concerned. The phone will sports a vertically-aligned dual camera setup on the back, while the phone’s LED flash will be included in-between those two cameras. A fingerprint scanner will be included on the back as well, and this is actually a very similar setup to the one we’ve seen on the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Those two cameras will not be flush with the phone’s back side, while antenna lines are visible at the top and bottom of the device, but they’re well hidden, and it actually seems like they’re a part of the phone’s design. Xiaomi’s branding is included on the back of the device, while this is a Rose Gold variant of the phone that you can see here. The phone’s display will sport rounded corners, if this leak is to be believed, while the phone’s bezels will not be thick at all, quite the contrary. A Type-C port is visible on the bottom of this phone, along with the device’s speaker grills. The power / lock, volume up, and volume down buttons are included on the right-hand side of the device, while the phone’s SIM card tray can be accessed from the left.

Now, as far as specs are concerned, the Redmi S2 is expected to sport a 5.99-inch fullHD+ (2160 x 1080) display, along with 2GB, 3GB or 4GB of RAM, and 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of storage, respectively. The phone will be fueled by a 64-bit octa-core SoC, most likely the Snapdragon 625, while the device will ship with a 3,000mAh battery. Android 8.1 Oreo will come pre-installed on the Redmi S2, while Xiaomi’s MIUI 9 skin will be included on top of Google’s Android OS. This phone will offer storage expansion via a microSD card, while a single 12-megapixel camera will be included on its back. If TENAA is to be believed, the device will arrive in a number of color variants, including Black, Blue, Gold, Gray, Pink, Red, Rose Gold, Silver, and White variants.
