The Xiaomi Redmi S2 has recently passed the certification process of the Chinese Compulsory Certification (CCC). CCC is the product quality testing agency of China, and it ensures that products sold within the country are safe for use by consumers. Three models of the handset have been tested by the regulatory agency, and these can be identified by the model numbers M1803E6E, M1803E6T, and M1803E6C. One of these variants, which has a model number M1803E6E, has been certified recently by the telecommunications regulator TENAA.
Even though the listing on the website of the CCC lacked information regarding the Xiaomi Redmi S2, earlier reports have already detailed the specifications and the design of the device. The device will likely be powered by the Snapdragon 625 chipset, which is comprised of an octa-core ARM Cortex A53 CPU running at a maximum clock speed of 2.0GHz and the Adreno 506 GPU. The handset will also reportedly sport a 5.99-inch display with a resolution of 1440 by 720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The TENAA listing shows that handset will likely be available in variants that contain 2GB, 3GB, or 4GB of RAM, and the device will likely have models that include 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB of internal flash storage. The handset also supports the expansion of the internal storage using a microSD card. The handset sports a dual rear camera setup, which is equipped with one 12-megapixel sensor and one 8-megapixel shooter. On the other hand, the front-facing camera has a 16-megapixel snapper. To keep its lights on, the handset includes a 3,080mAh battery.
The TENAA listing has also included images of the Xiaomi Redmi S2. The images show that the device’s vertically-arranged dual rear cameras are placed near the upper left corner of the handset’s back. The rear panel of the smartphone also includes a fingerprint scanner for quickly unlocking the device. On the right side of the device, users may find both the power button and the volume rockers, while the slot for the microSD card is placed on the left side of the smartphone. The device will reportedly ship with Android 8.1 Oreo pre-installed, although the Chinese device maker’s proprietary skin, MIUI, will likely run on top of Google’s operating system.
