Amazon’s Mobile Masters eSports event is returning this June following last year’s premier happening that the company labeled a success, with the next competitive gaming series being set to feature popular Android games such as World of Tanks Blitz, Power Rangers: Legacy Wars, Critical Ops, and Survival Arena. The event that’s running from June 23 until the following day will have a $100,000 prize pool and allow both professional and amateur players to compete with one another, as was the case last year. Amazon intends to broadcast the happening from its new streaming studio in its home city of Seattle, Washington.
Survival Arena and Power Rangers: Legacy Wars players will be able to qualify for the upcoming tournament through an early round of qualifiers powered by GameOn, a cross-platform gaming service Amazon introduced in late March. The happening is hence also a technology showcase for the firm’s latest solution designed to help developers add competitive elements to their titles via various APIs, hence potentially increasing the reach of their games and standardizing eSports experiences, both for players and spectators. GameOn tools can be used for ranking players, awarding prizes, and building online communities centered around games, Amazon says.
Power Rangers: Legacy Wars qualifiers are taking place from May 5 to May 13, after which Survival Arena qualifiers will run through May 14 to May 21. Interested mobile gamers can refer to the banner below for more information about the competition, including its rules and specific prizes. All teams and players that win a spot in the main tournament will be announced late this month, Amazon said. The tech giant has recently been placing an increased focus on the gaming segment, both in terms of mobile and other platforms, including its smart speakers. Amazon’s gaming push is still primarily centered on developer tools and not end-user projects, albeit its aggressive diversification strategy may eventually lead to more first-party games as well.
