Coolpad today announced a new entry-level smartphone under its Note series in the Indian market. The Note 6 will remain exclusive to India and will be available across the country starting today itself via more than 300 retail stores in eight Indian states, namely Delhi NCR, Haryana, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra. The handset will be available in two storage variants – 32GB and 64GB – priced at Rs. 8,999 ($135) and Rs. 9,999 ($150) respectively. A prominent feature that the Chinese company has included in its device is the front-facing dual-camera setup, which is a rarity for the budget segment.
The Note 6 follows quite a generic design language majorly because of its 16:9 display surrounded by relatively thicker bezels as opposed to current standards. It has a 5.5-inch display with an FHD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels which is covered with a 2.5D curved glass. Powering the phone is an octa-core Snapdragon 435 SoC from Qualcomm paired with Adreno 505 GPU. As previously mentioned, the Note 6 will be available in two storage variants with 32GB and 64GB of flash memory, with them being coupled with 3GB and 4GB of RAM respectively. The dual-SIM phone has a fingerprint scanner on the front and comes with Android 7.1 Nougat pre-installed. A 13-megapixel camera with a 6P lens system offering f/2.2 aperture can be found on the phone’s back along with an LED flash, while a dual-camera setup comprising an 8-megapixel and a 5-megapixel camera is present on the front. The front cameras, too, come paired with an LED flash. The Coolpad Note 6 is 8.62mm thick and weighs 170 grams while housing a battery of 4,070mAh capacity.
A couple of months back, the China-based smartphone maker announced its comeback to the Indian market after receiving $300 million funding from China’s Power Sun Ventures. Coolpad will have the South Asian country highest on its priority list and will also focus on the United States to drive sales going forward. At the last Mobile World Congress, the company announced its plans to bring Amazon Alexa to some of its future smartphones. A new Android smartphone Cool 2 was announced by Coolpad last week with a basic set of specifications including an HD+ display, MediaTek MT6750 processor, 3,200mAh battery, and Android 7.0 Nougat.
