Gboard Adds New Languages, GIF Creator & More

The latest version of Gboard is adding sixteen new languages in addition to a GIF creator and more new features that continue to enhance the Google-made soft keyboard app for Android devices. While the expansion of the language support is completely new as the sixteen languages that were added in as of this most recent app update had never been supported before now, the GIF creator is not technically a new feature for Android devices as Google added it to Gboard as part of the beta program back in the beginning of May. Now though it seems to be rolling out to users as part of the official version of Gboard outside of the beta program, which means everyone will have access to it.

For those that might not be familiar, the GIF creator option will pop up if you tap on the emoji button in Gboard, where you can then tap on the GIF tab down in the bottom nav bar. Once this is done you should see a big “Make A GIF” box on the screen which will then allow you to use the camera to create your own GIFs for current and future use. Naturally you can still search for GIFs and browse GIF categories like before.

Google didn’t just add the capability to make your own GIFs. It also added a new sticker gallery where it’s easier to find stickers you may want to use in your chats or messages, and as part of the gallery inclusion Google added 500 new stickers to the mix alongside the already large selection that was available before the update. If you’re the type who likes to jazz up chats with fun animated images and stickers then this update is certainly catered to you. As for the new languages that are now supported, this includes Halbi, Karakalpak, Moksha, Sango, and more. The update should already be live, and you can grab it from the Play Store button below.
