LG G7 ThinQ Beats The G6 In Terms Of Pre-Orders In Korea

It seems like LG is enjoying noticeably higher pre-order numbers for the LG G7 ThinQ, compared to the LG G6 last year, at least in Korea. According to a new report by ETNews, a Korean publication, LG has received 70,000 pre-orders for the LG G7 ThinQ in LG’s homeland, while the company received 40,000 pre-orders for the LG G6 in the same time period last year. LG has managed to rack up 70,000 pre-orders for the LG G7 ThinQ in Korea in four days, in case you were wondering.

The LG G7 ThinQ actually comes in both regular and “Plus” variants, and those two models are priced at 898,700 won ($833) and 976,800 won ($906), respectively. The base LG G7 ThinQ model actually costs the same as the LG G6 did back when it was released in Korea. The LG G7 ThinQ is obviously a more popular smartphone for the company, and it’s hard to say why, but the fact that it comes with the latest processor out there may have something to do with it. The LG G6 launched with the Snapdragon 821 SoC, while the Snapdragon 835 was already available out in the market back then. LG did not include the Snapdragon 835 in the LG G6 as there were simply not enough chips to go around, so the company decided to go with the Snapdragon 821 instead. On the other hand, a different approach by LG may have something to do with that as well, as the company changed its strategy overall.

Now, it remains to be seen how popular the LG G7 ThinQ will be outside of LG’s homeland, as solid pre-order numbers in Korea are not a guarantee of any kind, even though it’s definitely a good start for the LG G7 ThinQ. This handset features a 6.1-inch QHD+ display, 4GB / 6GB of RAM (depending on the variant), and a 3,000mAh battery. The phone comes with two 16-megapixel cameras on its back, and Android 8.0 Oreo comes pre-installed on the device, along with LG’s custom UI. LG has included a Quad DAC inside of the LG G7 ThinQ, while Bluetooth 5.0 is also included in the package.
