LG X2 & X5 (2018) Specs Leak Ahead Of Rumored June Launch

According to a new leak passed along by Korean media outlets, LG is preparing to release a handful of new smartphones next month along with the V35, two of which will reportedly be known as the LG X5 (2018) and X2 (2018). The former is supposed to be a direct sequel to the original LG X5 launched in 2016, while the latter appears to be a new budget-friendly product, though both smartphone models seem to fit in the mid-range market, according to the leaked spec sheet at hand. Furthermore, the upcoming LG X5 (2018) doesn’t seem to differ too much from its predecessor in terms of internal hardware but comes with a more generous 4,500mAh battery, a slightly newer MediaTek SoC, and presumably a more modern exterior design.

While the original LG X5 was powered by the MediaTek MT6735 chipset launched in 2015, the upcoming sequel will reportedly adopt the MT6750 SoC which debuted a year later. It features a total of eight ARM Cortex-A53 cores, a Mali-T860 MP2 graphics chip, and should be paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board memory. The leaked spec sheet further suggests that the LG X5 (2018) will sport a 5.5-inch HD display and carry a 13-megapixel main camera along with a 3-megapixel front-facing shooter. The overall dimensions clock in at 154.7 x 78.1 x 8.6-millimeters, making it slightly taller, wider, and thicker than the 2016 model. Moving on to the LG X2 (2018), the device should carry a 5-inch HD display and will apparently adopt a chipset from Qualcomm as opposed to MediaTek, namely the Snapdragon 425 featuring four ARM Cortex-A53 CPU cores clocked at 1.4GHz and an Adreno 308 GPU. The processor is coupled with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board memory, and the components should be powered by a 2,410mAh battery. Finally, the device reportedly sports a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera along with a 5-megapixel front-facing unit and measures 144.8 x 71.9 x 8.1-millimeters.

Although there’s no official word on the matter yet, the leaked materials indicate that both the LG X5 (2018) and X2 (2018) will be introduced in June, presumably in South Korea first and foremost, and possibly in other markets later down the line. Both are likely to carry budget-conscious price tags as well.
