Motorola is now expected to introduce the Moto Z3 Play on June 6, as suggested by a press invite sent to various media outlets in Brazil. The Moto Z2 Play was announced last June as well, with its successor already leaking on several occasions and reports being indicative of another modular Android mid-ranger.
The invitation, however, does not exactly state the name of the product to be unveiled on the specified date, nor does it reveal additional details of the device being displayed on the promo seen below. Nonetheless, plenty of previous leaks surrounding the upcoming Moto Z3 Play provide information about the supposed specs and features coming with the device. Most recently, XDA Developers obtained an internal document which revealed an abundance of details about the mid-range smartphone such as an 18:9 AMOLED display which is supposedly measuring six inches with an FHD+ resolution and a nearly bezel-less design. The document also indicated the likely use of premium materials such as Gorilla Glass and aluminum. The Moto Z3 Play is also expected to pack a modest 3,000mAh battery. The document additionally claims that the handset will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM and either a 32GB or 64GB of storage expandable via a microSD card slot. Rumor also has it that the device will boast a dual-camera setup on the back with a 12-megapixel primary sensor and an 8-megapixel front shooter. According to the same document, Motorola is planning to introduce at least four Mods alongside the Z3 Play – Power, Style, Gamepad, and Projection Mods. The phone will also supposedly come running Android 8.1 Oreo, along with a promise of two major operating system upgrades.
Last month, AndroidHeadlines exclusively shared an official render of the Moto Z3 Play, which shows the front and back of the phone in detail and corroborates some of the previous rumors about its design, including the removal of the “Home” button from the front of the device where the fingerprint reader is traditionally located. The sensor is now expected to be integrated into the power button of the handset located on its right-hand edge.
