The OnePlus 6 is the first smartphone from the company to support seamless Android updates (also known as A/B updates). Now, Google rolled out seamless updates on the first-gen Pixel phones back in 2016, and a number of other devices followed suit, well, the OnePlus 6 is now one of them. Seamless update support basically means that you will be able to utilize quicker OTA installation.
This basically means that the OnePlus 6 will be able to download and install OTA updates in the background, while letting you use the device normally. It won’t swap a new update for the old one until you reboot your phone, though, so basically, as soon as you do, and start using the device again, the new update will already be waiting for you on the device. This will save you time, of course, as you won’t need to look at the “installing” screen or wait for the installation to happen while being locked out of your device at the same time. This also means that the operating system is taking a bit more space than before, but not much, and the tradeoff is probably worth it for the vast majority of you. That is pretty much it, every OnePlus 6 unit will ship with such functionality, of course.
The OnePlus 6 actually became available for purchase two days ago, and first units are arriving to those who purchased them as we speak. The OnePlus 6 is the most powerful handset the company ever released, and it is made out of metal and glass, unlike the company’s previous flagships. The OnePlus 6 sports a 6.28-inch fullHD+ Optic AMOLED display, it is fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor, and it includes a 3,300mAh battery. OnePlus’ Dash Charge fast charging is also a part of the package, while Android 8.0 Oreo comes pre-installed on the device, along with OnePlus’ OxygenOS skin. 16 and 20-megapixel cameras are included on the back of the phone, while a single 16-megapixel unit can be found on the phone’s front side.
