Pandora has introduced a new unlimited subscription plan called Premium Family, offering premium features to up to six members at $14.99 per month or $164.89 annually. The streaming service’s premium tier was officially launched in March last year at $10 per month. The Premium Family plan provides each member with the ability to listen to high-quality audio with no ads, personalize their playlist, create radio stations, save music offline, avoid shuffles, and gain access to an automated playlist called “Our Soundtrack” which contains dynamically curated songs and albums based on their preferences.
Users of Pandora’s free trial or any existing paid plans are eligible to upgrade to the Premium Family subscription. Any remaining free trial period with Pandora will be canceled once one decides to switch to the Premium Family plan as the subscription will immediately charge the monthly fee. Keep in mind, however, that those with an existing subscription paid through iTunes, Google Play, Roku, or Amazon Appstore will not be able to upgrade to a Premium Family plan unless they revoke their current plan with those services and wait for the subscription to reach its expiry date. The same applies to those who would like to join a Premium Family plan. After canceling their subscriptions with non-Pandora services, users may start to hear ads on their account again, which means they will then be able to register for the Pandora Premium Family plan. As always, this process must be completed on a computer, not a mobile device.
For Pandora’s Plus Gift subscribers, it is also worth noting that they will not be able to buy a Premium Family plan themselves while that subscription is still active, though they can still join an existing Family plan. However, becoming a member of a Premium Family plan will mean their gift subscription will be canceled. Plus Gift subscribers will still be able to use their subscription in the future automatically once they leave a Premium Family plan or the plan creator decides to terminate their membership altogether, the firm said.
