Qualcomm seemingly confirmed that the Xiaomi Mi 8 will support Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging. If you take a look at the image provided down below, you will be able to see the Xiaomi Mi 8 listed as one of the devices supporting Quick Charge 4.0, along with the Nubia Z17, Smartisan R1, and so on. As soon as we’ve seen this, we’ve visited Qualcomm’s website and pulled up a list of QC 4.0-supported smartphones, we’ve located the list shown down below, but the Mi 8 is missing, everything else is identical, but the Mi 8 is not there. Now, there are two options, either someone photoshopped the Mi 8, or Qualcomm made a mistake and removed it from the list recently.
That being said, it’s possible that Qualcomm included it, and then removed it, as the Mi 8 will probably ship with support for Quick Charge 4.0. The phone got certified recently, and that certification listing claims that it will support 5V/3A, 9V/2A, and 12V/1.5A quick charge protocols, and will support top-ups up to 18W. It is worth noting that a number of phones support Quick Charge 4.0, but don’t ship with a charger that can utilize such speeds, and that hopefully won’t be the case with the Mi 8. The Xiaomi Mi 8 will be announced on May 31 in Shenzhen, and that won’t be the only device that will launch at the said event. The company’s CEO already confirmed that several devices will be shown off in Shenzhen, and the Mi Band 3 will probably be amongst them. The Surge S2 announcement is also a possibility, as the company’s second-gen mobile processor is expected to launch soon, so it may as well happen on May 31. In addition to all that, Xiaomi confirmed that MIUI 10 is launching on May 31 as well.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 will, if rumors and leaks are to be believed, be made out of metal and glass, while it will support wireless charging. The phone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor, while it will sport 3D facial scanning, similar to the one on the iPhone X. The device will include at least 6GB of RAM, while it will sport thin bezels. Some leaks and rumors even suggested that Xiaomi plans to release two size variants of the phone, and the device will probably ship with MIUI 10 out of the box.
