The Samsung Galaxy S9 series is receiving a new software update designed to address call stability issues and improve the quality of wallpapers. In early April, Samsung rolled out an update for the Galaxy S9 lineup listing an identical changelog. Nevertheless, it appears that Samsung’s initial attempt to fix the said call stability issues hasn’t paid off entirely, which is why a new fix is now underway, coming in the form of a software package identified by a different build number.
While the build number attached to the earlier update was listed as FXXU1ARCC, the latest release is identified as FXXU1ARD4 instead, and Galaxy S9 owners who may still be experiencing call issues should ensure that they have applied this latest patch on top of or instead of the old one. This latest release counts as the fourth software update for the Samsung Galaxy S9 lineup since it was launched in March, with previous releases addressing the stability of the Camera application and Face unlock feature, as well as including newer security patches. But one of the biggest complaints regarding Samsung’s new flagship pertained to call stability issues which could reportedly lead to poor audio quality and even random microphone drops during voice calls for some users. Samsung was fairly quick to respond to those complaints through a timely software update less than one month after the flagship’s debut, but it seems that the OEM’s initial efforts haven’t really ironed out all of the flaws. This should no longer be the case with the latest software release.
Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus owners who have yet to receive the latest firmware should either wait for the update notification to arrive or attempt to download and apply the update manually by checking the ‘Software update’ section within the Settings application. Keep in mind that the software is expanding gradually, meaning it will hit some units and certain regions first. As usual, users should make sure that their smartphone’s battery is fully charged before applying the update.
