Following the OnePlus 6’s TENAA certification, the Xiaomi Redmi S2 has also surfaced on the site, though unlike the OnePlus 6, Redmi S2’s listing comes with images as well, much like an earlier listing we’ve talked about last month. Two versions of the phone surfaced on TENAA, the Xiaomi M1803E6C and M1803E6T, both sport the same specs, though. As you can see, the Redmi S2 will be made out of metal, while it will sport a fingerprint scanner on the back. A vertically aligned dual camera setup will be included on the back of the device, while the company’s branding will sit on the back as well. The phone’s physical keys are located on the right, while the Redmi S2’s SIM card tray is accessible from the left.
This design does not come as a surprise, exactly, as the phone has surfaced a number of times thus far, including real-life images of the device which popped up at one of Xiaomi’s Mi Stores, the one in Prague. The Xiaomi Redmi S2 will sport a 5.99-inch HD+ (1440 x 720) display, while it will sport 2GB, 3GB, and 4GB of RAM and 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB of storage, respectively. The device will be fueled by a 64-bit octa-core SoC which will be clocked at 2.0GHz, and we’re quite probably looking at the Snapdragon 625 here. The phone will include a 3,000mAh battery, which will not be removable, while 12 and 5-megapixel cameras will be included on the back of the Redmi S2. A 16-megapixel camera will be included on the phone’s front side, while Android 8.1 Oreo will come pre-installed on the phone, along with Xiaomi’s MIUI 9 skin. The phone will arrive in Black, Rose Gold, Gold, White, Blue, Red, Pink, Gray, and Silver color variants, according to TENAA. The phone will measure 160.73 x 77.26 x 8.1mm, while it will weigh 170 grams.
The Xiaomi Redmi S2 will be announced on May 10, according to Xiaomi’s teaser that was published yesterday. The company did not exactly confirm that the Redmi S2 is coming, but an S-branded device is on the way, and it’s either this or the Surge S2 processor, we’ll just have to wait until May 10 in order to find out.
