The OnePlus 6 is the latest flagship smartphone to hit the market, though it’ll still be a short while before consumers can pick one up. That said it is already available to pre-order and can be picked up in either the Mirror Black or Midnight Black color variations, with the Silk White coming in the beginning of June, and it’ll come with three different storage options that include 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB for those that really want to make sure they never run out of room to store apps, games, media or anything else.
Now that the device is here and ready for consumers, the question for some will be whether or not to buy one. This might be an easier question to answer for anyone who has an older device that was purchased in 2016 or earlier, but for anyone that bought a device last year or in the beginning of this year, it may not be worth it as there won’t be too many differences in hardware or features. For starters, it comes powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor which is being used in at least three or four other phones from this year, two of which are already available – the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus, so it’s unlikely anyone with either of those phones would want to upgrade to the OnePlus 6 as it’s pretty comparable.
Comparisons aside, the OnePlus 6 also comes with a screen just barely larger than 6-inches, a nearly bezel-free screen, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and a dual camera setup. It kept the alert slider, though it was moved to the right side of the phone frame and it can now be used to zoom in and out for photos. Overall the device is packed with some decent hardware, so it may very well be a good phone, but is it good enough to warrant an upgrade?
