Google I/O 2018 has come and gone, but the announcements have stuck and they’ll give people plenty of things to look forward to in the near future and for the rest of the year. Bigger announcements and reveals like the new developer preview of Android P are sure to capture the attention of a large majority of users, and this shouldn’t be too surprising since it means the final build of Android P is that much closer, but also because the new developer preview does introduce new changes, features, and improvements and for those who live for new software updates, it’s always nice to see new stuff for the software you use on a daily basis.
Beyond Android P there were quite a few announcements surrounding Google Assistant. One of the bigger ones was Google Duplex, a new technology that Google is going to roll into Google Assistant that will allow to speak for you on phone calls for things like appointments. While there is still likely quite a bit of time before Google rolls this out, a demo at the keynote speech on Tuesday, May 8 showcased how it might work when it’s finished, and according to Google the calls made during the demo were real, with Google Assistant speaking back to the person on the other end of the call to finalize an appointment setup.
For the wearable enthusiasts, the second developer preview of Wear OS was announced and launched as well giving users a chance to test the latest changes to the smartwatch software. Google even had some news to share about Android Auto and Android TV, showing off the new Android Auto in-car concept for the former and announcing Android P for Android TV, as the well as the ADT-2 developer dongle for the latter. With everything that was discussed at Google I/O 2018 though, what was your favorite?
