The Xiaomi Mi 8’s retail box has just surfaced, revealing some details of the device. The Xiaomi Mi 8 will be announced on May 31, as most of you know, along with MIUI 10 and Mi Band 3 fitness tracker, as all of those launches had been confirmed for May 31 from the company. Having said that, the Mi 8 will be the company’s upcoming flagship, and the retail box which you can check out in the gallery down below actually reveals some spec detail when it comes to the Mi 8.
As you can see, this is a black-colored box, and it’s quite minimalistic, but when you flip it around, you’ll be able to see that it confirms the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core SoC for the phone, which is not exactly surprising considering that the company’s officials confirmed that early this year. This box also claims that the phone will sport a Type-C USB port, 6GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage, though do keep in mind that an 8GB RAM variant of the phone will probably also launch. “AI Cameras” are also teased on the box, and this box seemingly confirms that one of the phone’s rear-facing cameras will sport 20 megapixels. That is pretty much all the info that it confirms, or at least all the info that we can see as there’s some additional text included that is in Chinese. The Xiaomi Mi 8 is expected to be made out of metal and glass, and it will almost certainly sport wireless charging, just like the Mi MIX 2S. The device will include two cameras on its back, while a fingerprint scanner will also be included on the back, unless Xiaomi opts to include it below the phone’s display.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 will sport 3D facial recognition, similar to the one utilized by the iPhone X, this also means that it will sport a rather wide notch on the display. The Xiaomi Mi 8 may arrive in two size variants, as both a 5.84-inch and 6.2-inch models have leaked thus far, but it remains to be seen if both of those leaks are accurate. The device’s battery will probably be larger than 3,000mAh, and you can expect to see MIUI 10 shipping out of the box on the Mi 8 as well, as it will be announced on May 31 as well. Xiaomi’s MIUI skin will ship on Android 8.1 Oreo, in case you were wondering.
