Xiaomi Teases Upcoming Event, Is The Mi 7 Flagship Coming?

Xiaomi has just released a rather vague Xiaomi Mi 7 teaser on its official Weibo (Chinese social network) page. The company shared an image of Shenzen, and in its caption, Xiaomi suggested that a new event is coming, and that it will be hosted in Shenzhen. Now, the company did not exactly elaborate on anything, the Xiaomi Mi 7 was not mentioned, nor any other device for that matter, but rumors have been pointing at a late May launch of the Xiaomi Mi 7, so this event is probably connected to that.

If rumors are to be believed, the Xiaomi Mi 7 will not be the only handset that the company will announce during its upcoming event, the Mi Band 3 fitness tracker is also rumored, which is not that hard to believe, as Xiaomi already shared a teaser image of the Mi Band 3. Now, on top of all that, the company’s 8th anniversary smartphone may arrive as well, at least according to a recent rumor, which claims that it will launch alongside the Mi 7 and Mi Band 3 before the end of this month. In any case, Xiaomi is expected to officially announce a date for the upcoming press event, while we’re also expecting to see more teasers being shared. So, when will this press conference take place? Well, one of the China Mobile stores in China suggested that the Mi 7 pre-registrations will kick off on May 27, so it’s possible that the phone will be announced on that day as well, as Xiaomi usually kicks off pre-registrations for flash sales on the same day that a phone launches.

The Xiaomi Mi 7 is the company’s upcoming flagship, needless to say. The Mi 7 will stand side-by-side with the Mi MIX 2S which was announced quite recently, though it will be noticeably more compact than the Mi MIX 2S. The Xiaomi Mi 7 is rumored to sport a 5.45-inch fullHD+ display, a display notch, and wireless charging. The phone will probably be made out of metal and glass, while it will be fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor. Android Oreo will come pre-installed on the phone, while the company’s MIUI skin will be included on top of it, as per usual.
