Amazon has ended support for Mayday, which was its support feature that allowed customers to get support on their Fire Tablet by simply pressing a button and video chatting with an Amazon customer representative. Amazon has quietly ended support for Mayday, and did post a webpage about it on its site. Mentioning that Amazon customers can still contact Amazon in many other ways including calling, email and much more. Mayday will be discontinued in June 2018, so the company is wasting very little time in discontinuing the service.
Mayday debuted on Amazon’s Fire Tablets a few years ago and was actually a really cool feature for Amazon to include on its tablets. As it allowed customers to quickly hit the button and get help from Amazon’s customer support team. With Mayday, Amazon was able to remotely get into customers tablets (with permission of course) and fix whatever issue the customer is having. Whether that’s simply having trouble turning off location or something more difficult. It’s a great feature, but unfortunately Amazon is ending support for it. It’s unclear whether this is being ended due to the amount of resources it uses or whether customers were simply not using it. Amazon likely won’t say why it’s ending support either, unfortunately.
Luckily, Amazon is still going to support its products, which is important, and expected here. Since customers are able to still call, email and chat with Amazon’s customer support, this likely won’t be a big deal, and many customers may not even know that there is something being removed from their Fire tablet. Amazon’s Fire tablets are still great tablets to pick up, especially if you are a big Amazon user. Since you do get Amazon Prime Video, Music Unlimited and Amazon’s other services included, making it a great tablet to pick up and really use these services.
