Playdigious’ Evoland 2 is now available on Android, with a price of $5.99 in the Play Store. The game came out on PC back in 2015, and has since been making its way around to Mac, iOS, Apple TV and Linux. This release on Android comes about four months after the iOS port, and brings all of the features, fixes and updates that version has seen since release along with it. This means, of course, that Android users are getting the most glitch-free and user-friendly version of the game yet for their $5.99. This is only the limited launch price, though; after June 27, it will jump up to $9.99. Those who have $5 less to spend, however, will be happy to know that the first game in the series is on sale in the Play Store for only $.99 in celebration of it’s sequel’s release.
Much like its predecessor, Evoland 2 features travel through time and through different eras in video game design and technology. The game also jumps across genres; you’ll brawl, shoot, play card games and more before the adventure is over. Your hero’s abilities grow and change as you jump between time periods, video game technology evolutions and game genres, just like in the first title. As for creature comforts, the overly-eager or those on a second or third playthrough can skip text, and anybody who doesn’t like the way that the controls are laid out by default can customize it to suit their individual tastes.
The Evoland series is unique in its willingness to openly look to its laurels while embracing the present and future in such a cheeky way, and this dynamic has seen the first game in the series garner over 100,000 installs in the Play Store since its release back in 2015. The sequel has done quite well on PC and other platforms since it came out in the same year, so it’s a safe bet that the mobile version will see similar success. If you want a surprisingly deep and satisfying game that works across genres and has a gimmick that you won’t find anywhere else, look no further than Evoland and its newly ported sequel.
