Fitbit announced its kid-friendly fitness tracker, the Fitbit Ace, with the Versa a few months ago. However, we hadn’t heard much about the Ace since that announcement in March. Until today, when Fitbit announced global availability for the new wearable, which is going to be priced at $99. That’s a bit pricey for a fitness tracker that is targeting kids – who will likely lose this tracker.
As expected, the Fitbit Ace is able to track activity and sleep, and is made for developing healthy habits. That includes doing more walking, being more active and sleeping a bit more. Fitbit notes that the goals do default to international health guidelines which are 60 minutes of activity and nine hours of sleep per day. These can of course be changed though. Like Fitbit’s other trackers out there, the Ace will provide reminders to move, so that the child isn’t sitting in one place all day long. The Ace can also motivate and reward kids for moving. There are daily and weekend challenges as well as collectible badges, very similar to regular Fitbit. With the Ace, Fitbit also created a family account, so that a family can keep track of each other’s progress and see who’s moving the most and even make it a bit more competitive.
The Fitbit Ace is designed to get kids moving, after all, in the US, many kids aren’t even active 60 minutes a day – which really isn’t that long. And that is part of what leads to obesity in the country. So Fitbit is doing its part to help. The Fitbit Ace may help out in that respect, but it won’t completely solve the issue, as you’d expect. The Fitbit Ace is available today – and you can grab it from the links down below. It’s available in two colors: power purple and electric blue. It’s a great fitness tracker for kids, and to get them moving around and really into being more fit.
