Instagram IntrosMusic Feature For Stories

Instagram has introduced a music feature for Stories as it aims to ramp up the popularity of it, though Stories was just doing fine without it as Instagram notes that Stories is being interacted with by 400 million users every single day. To make things even more enticing, users who snap a photo or shoot a video on their stories and tap on the add sticker button will see a new option to add a music track to liven things up a bit. All of the music is licensed so users shouldn’t run into any issues with songs they choose, and there will be plenty to choose from as Instagram states it has added in thousands of track selections.

Most of the music will likely be newer tracks options like Mine by Bazzi, Starboy by the Weekend, 24K by Bruno Mars and more. Instagram is only making this available in certain countries to start though it doesn’t mention which countries those are. It’s also only possible to add music to your story video or photo after the photo or video has been taken by using the music sticker, though Instagram does plan to make it possible to choose the music first, a feature which is coming to Android at some point in the near future, and when it arrives on Android devices it will be an option for the camera type once you open the camera within the Instagram app.

As for the music sticker, it’ll be located towards the top of the list that pops up when you tap the option to add a sticker to your story, so if you aren’t seeing it yet the feature either hasn’t reached your device or it’s not currently available in your country. The goal with adding the ability to insert music is to make things more lively and more energetic, and viewers of stories with music will get to feel that experience as the track will play once the story is being viewed. In addition, the name of the song will be shown as a sticker on the display so users will know what it is. The entire track will be available within the app so users can select the exact part they want to use, too, adding even more customization into the mix.
