Lenovo Z5 Announced, Features A Display Notch After All

Lenovo has just announced its much-anticipated Z5 handset, and unfortunately, most of the company’s teasers were somewhat misleading. The company’s VP, Chang Cheng, hyped up this phone so much over the last couple of weeks, that the end product is not exactly what was expected. The phone does sport a display notch, which was not shown in the company’s teaser renders nor sketches, while 4TB of storage that the company’s VP mentioned in one of his posts is not included here either. Incredible, hard to believe battery life was teased for the phone, and even though the device may offer solid battery life, it’s not exactly what was expected. It is possible that the company is planning to introduce another Z5 handset soon (even though that’s not as likely), so that the company can justify all those teasers, but until then, let’s take a look at the Lenovo Z5.

The Lenovo Z5 is made out of metal and glass, and it looks like a number of other smartphones that were introduced by Chinese OEMs in 2018. The device’s back is somewhat reflective, while the phone sports a vertically-aligned dual camera setup on the back, which protrudes a bit. A fingerprint scanner is also placed on the back of the Lenovo Z5, while the company’s branding can be found back there as well. All the physical keys are included on the right-hand side of the phone, while a Type-C USB port lies on the bottom along with the phone’s loudspeaker. The Lenovo Z5’s display sport rounded corners, and the phone’s notch is not one of the smaller ones out there, it’s somewhere between OnePlus 6’s and iPhone X’s notch in terms of width. The Lenovo Z5 features a 6.2-inch fullHD+ (2246 x 1080) display with a 2.5D curved glass on top of it. The phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 636 64-bit octa-core processor, while it comes with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB / 128GB of expandable storage (expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card).

Android 8.1 Oreo comes pre-installed on the phone, along with ZUI 3.9 UI, and there are two nano SIM card slots included in this package (hybrid setup). 16 and 8-megapixel cameras sit on the back of the Lenovo Z5, while a single 8-megapixel camera (f/2.0 aperture) can be found on the phone’s front side. A 3.5mm headphone jack is included on the bottom of the phone, while a 3,300mAh battery lies on the inside of this phone. The device measures 153 x 75.65 x 7.85mm, while it weighs 165 grams. The Lenovo Z5 comes in Aurora Blue, Black, and Indigo Blue color variants. The phone’s Black variant with 64GB of storage costs 1,299 Yuan ($202), while the Aurora Blue and Indigo Blue variants with the same amount of storage are priced at 1,399 Yuan ($218). A 128GB storage variant of the Lenovo Z5 is priced at 1,799 Yuan ($280), and all three models will become available for pre-order in China starting today, and will go on sale from June 12.
