Marc Jacobs has launched a $295 Wear OS-powered smartwatch called the Riley Touchscreen and it’s already available to buy at Target in the U.S. The watch comes in two different color options – Rose Gold, and Black, each of them coming with a strap that meshes well with the color of the watch case. There is a third option for the watch which is a slightly different style, called the Black with Glitz, which comes with a stylized Black silicone strap with a crocodile pattern to give it a more refined look. The watch case is also encrusted with crystals around the edge, and because of the slightly upscale design the watch will also cost a little more, coming to market at $350, though this particular model variation doesn’t seem to be available yet on Target’s website. It’ll also reportedly launch on Marc Jacobs’ own website tomorrow.
When it comes to specs you’re getting the mostly standard setup of smartwatches running on the Wear OS platform. This means things like Bluetooth low energy, a 24-hour battery life, and an IP67 rating for water and dust which for those unfamiliar means it’ll be able to withstand rain and sweat and a little dirt or dust here and there. The display panel used is an AMOLED panel and comes in a 1.19-inch size, with the watch case being listed as 42mm. It also comes powered by the Snapdragon Wear 2100, which is again standard with most other smartwatches that are current as it was designed by Qualcomm specifically for wearables.
The amount of RAM and storage are not mentioned but it should have 4GB of storage for the apps and any music users may want to store on the watch locally, and RAM is likely 512MB. All three variations also come with silicone straps and not just the Black with Glitz model, though it looks like it’ll be possible to swap the straps out if desired which would allow consumers to customize them a little bit more. The Riley Touchscreen is supposed to officially launch tomorrow, but there’s no word on if it’ll be available outside of retailers like Target and Marc Jacobs.
