Most Powerful Nokia 6.1 Model Released In Europe

The Nokia 6.1 is making its way into the European market, specifically in Germany where the device is now offered online by various Amazon retailers in different configurations. The handset is presently available with 32GB or 64GB of on-board memory, 3GB or 4GB of RAM, and can be acquired in a dual-SIM configuration. Prices range from €271 to €318 depending on these factors and generally, the device should be ready to ship to customers in a few days, though color choices can influence availability.

The Nokia 6.1 first debuted in April, more than a year after the original Nokia 6 was officially introduced. The new model takes advantage of numerous software and hardware improvements and comes with a reworked exterior design lacking physical buttons on the lower bezel, with the fingerprint scanner thus being relocated to the back panel. The Nokia 6.1 sports a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display protected by Gorilla Glass 3, clocking in at a resolution of 1920 by 1080 and retaining a more conventional 16:9 image format. The unit relies on a Snapdragon 630 chipset supplied by Qualcomm, featuring eight ARM Cortex-A53 CPU cores clocked at up to 2.2GHz and an Adreno 508 graphics chip. The main camera has been enriched with Zeiss optics but retains the 16-megapixel resolution and f/2.0 aperture, while the front-facing 8-megapixel shooter can now be used for “bothies”, i.e., the ability to capture video with both the front and rear-facing cameras simultaneously. As far as the software goes, the smartphone is an Android One device meaning that it should have guaranteed software support for two years and feature Google’s standard Android GUI. Nevertheless, the device does add a few unique software features of its own on top of Android Oreo, designed specifically for mobile photography. It also borrows technologies such as OZO for spatial audio recording when filming videos.

HMD Global’s new mid-range device launching now in Europe also takes advantage of LTE connectivity, as well as Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0 LE, and an on-board FM radio. It also manages to adopt a USB Type-C connector without abandoning the 3.5-millimeter headphone jack, and finally, the hardware relies on a 3,000mAh battery with fast charging capabilities, giving users the option of recharging half of the unit in roughly 30 minutes.
