In 2018, the big feature for smartphones have been fingerprint readers under the display of the smartphone. Allowing for companies to really get rid of the bezels on their smartphones and not need to put a fingerprint sensor on the back. After a few companies have done it successfully, it looks like HMD Global will be next with the Nokia A1 Plus, according to recent reports.
According to WinFuture, who has a few documents in hand showing some of the features of the A1 Plus, it’s going to be running on the “current high-end platform from Qualcomm” which likely means the Snapdragon 845. It will also have a fingerprint reader in the display. There’s not much else known about the fingerprint sensor, other than it being in the display here. It will likely work similar to what Vivo and Xiaomi have done with their recent smartphones. However, the A1 Plus is said to be close to the Nokia 8 Sirocco which is the company’s current flagship device. It is also said to be sporting an elaborate camera. There’s also not a whole lot known about the camera here, but expect something rather interesting on the camera front. And considering Nokia is using stock Android on all of its smartphones, this could be very, very interesting to say the least.
This report points at a release of around August or September for the Nokia A1 Plus, and considering IFA is taking place in Berlin in early September (as it does every year), it wouldn’t be too surprising to see HMD Global take the wraps off of the Nokia A1 Plus at a press conference in Berlin. There’s not a whole lot known about this device, but what is known is actually pretty interesting and there’s going to be plenty of attention paid to HMD Global later this summer, into the fall.
