Perfecto has just become the first cloud-based testing platform provider to support automated testing of PWAs. For those of you who are out of the loop, PWA stands for Progressive Web Apps, which are spreading at a rapid rate all over the internet. In any case, Perfecto has announced that it now supports early PWA adopters who are looking to test PWAs, both via desktop and mobile platforms.
Perfecto claims that early adopters demonstrate PWAs “improve user experience, grow engagement, and increase conversions”. There are a number of benefits of PWAs, including the fact that you can use website while you’re offline, receive push notifications, and access a number of platform features such as cameras, speakers, GPS, and so on. Perfect’s recent study claims that 41-percent of its respondents plan to add PWA to their sites over the next 12 months, while 32-percent of responders are at least researching this shift, so there’s a chance they’ll move to PWA in the next 12 months as well. Perfecto’s Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), claims that PWA is a natural next step after responsive web design, while he also claims that Perfecto’s Automation Coverage Extension capabilities provide the company the architectural advantage to provide DevOps teams with what they need in order to automate PWA testing.
Perfecto supports in-depth PWA testing, including launching PWAs, test authoring & execution, testing audio, camera, and location-based scenarios, user condition test scenarios, and also executing PWA tests in the cloud on desktop and mobile platforms in parallel. Testing PWAs is not an easy process, so if you’re a developer, you may want to consider an automated testing solution, such as Perfecto’s. PWAs are definitely gaining ground, and it remains to be seen how many sites will utilize PWAs by the end of this year, but considering a ton of sites already support the tech, and having current PWA growth rate in mind, those number will increase drastically.
