The Polar Beat Android app has been updated with a number of smart coaching features meant to deliver an even more comprehensive fitness platform, the Finnish consumer electronics maker announced Monday. The latest version of the app can already be downloaded from the Google Play Store and iOS App Store, providing owners of Polar’s wearables with new functionalities and services, including a comprehensive Fitness Test meant to illustrate one’s progress and keep them motivated enough to continue with their routines.
Another new feature comes in the form of EnergyPointer, a service that tracks one’s activities in real time and identifies the main effects of their workouts with the goal of helping users find the optimal exercise regardless of their ambitions. In a similar vein, the new Benefit Target functionality can deliver voice guidance while you work out, leveraging EnergyPointer data and other information about your exercise history in the process of doing so. Polar also ennobled its Android app with the addition of a Running Index intended to score one’s running techniques and history based on their heart rate data in a streamlined, easy-to-understand manner. While Polar Beat is free to download on Android devices, the app itself was designed to be used in conjunction with one of the company’s heart rate sensors such as the Polar H10 and OH1. The wearables communicate with the mobile tool via Bluetooth, effectively serving as fitness tracking hubs that are being continuously improved, as evidenced by the latest update which started rolling out on the Google Play Store earlier today.
Besides revamping its Android app, Polar today also launched new chest strap and armband colors for the H10 and OH1 heart rate monitors, having debuted them in the form of Melange Orange, Melange Turquoise, and Melange Grey. The firm’s app is available with the vast majority of handsets running Android 4.4 KitKat and newer versions of Google’s operating system.
