The Ring Alarm security system is up for pre-order at $199 and can be picked up from Ring’s website. The units should end up shipping to those who purchase it on or around July 4, which means that it may arrive on doorsteps within the next few weeks. Ring’s website doesn’t list the ship date, but the security system is also available on Amazon which states July 4 is the planned release date for the product, so it’s likely that things will stick and anyone looking to upgrade their home security can expect the unit to show up the first week of next month.
If you’re thinking about picking this up you can get it with or without expert installation on Amazon, though it’s worth keeping in mind that this will add on an additional $216 making the end cost $416 for the installation and the purchase of the unit. Ring officially announced the Alarm Home Security Kit last year and had planned to release it in the Fall of 2017, but had to hold off on releasing it due to a lawsuit.
The Ring Alarm Home Security Kit comes with the base station, which is what connects the setup to your local Wi-Fi network, the keypad so you can arm or disarm the alarm system manually from the unit itself, a motion detector, a range extender to help with coverage over the Wi-Fi network should your router be further away from the main unit, and a contact sensor for you to place on windows or doors. Though the keypad is there for manual arming and disarming it’s also possibly to arm and disarm the alarm remotely using the companion app. Inside the app you can also see if the alarm is armed or not, and if it’s not you can engage it right then and there. The initial package only comes with one of each item, but you can purchase additional contact sensors and motion detectors if you need them at $20 and $30 each respectively.
