Samsung Touts Super Slo-Mo Selfies At UK Music Festivals

Samsung has kicked off this summer with a series of showcases it’s referring to as the “Samsung Galaxy S9 Super Slow-mo Experience” at this year’s big UK Music Festivals. The experience is, as its name implies, centered around showing off the company’s Galaxy S9 family of devices. More directly, it’s a promotional contest for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus cameras which allow for Super Slo-Mo and Super Low Light captures. Users of those devices are encouraged to snap slow motion videos and share those with the hashtags “#GalaxyS9 and #withGalaxy” for a chance to win. Winners get access to a VIP area set up by the Korean tech giant leading up to events the company is participating in. That’s a raised platform which overlooks the festival and mainstage.

As many as 15 winners will be chosen on a daily basis. Of course, the first event in the series has already passed, as of this writing. That was the All Points East event which ran between May 25 and June 3. With that said, the company will also be present at Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park, with two events scheduled to take place in July. One of those will run between July 6 and July 8 while the other runs between July 13 and July 15. There are still plenty of chances to win. So anybody either in the U.K. or who will be visiting the local area and is interested in attending the events in question will definitely want to enter.

As mentioned above, the whole point of this campaign is to serve as a promotion for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus cameras. The handsets have some of the best cameras on the market with a DxOMark score of 99 points, although not the very best. That distinction currently goes to Huawei’s P20 Pro with a score of 109. Having said that, Samsung’s cameras do exceptionally well in low-light circumstances thanks to a dual-aperture which actively adapts in a way that’s moderately similar to the human eye. Slow motion video capture is also sensationally good, with the flagships being capable of video capture at up to 960 frames per second.
