Galaxy Note 9 S Pen To Control Music, Take Selfies: Rumor

The S Pen bundled with the Galaxy Note 9 will be a significant step forward compared to Samsung’s previous stylus and be able to control music, take selfies, and perform a wide variety of other actions, according to one established industry insider from China close to some of the South Korean company’s suppliers. Unlike what has been the case in previous years, the new S Pen will be capable of functioning as a fully standalone Bluetooth controller, as per the same source who previously already teased some major stylus improvements Samsung has in the works for the Galaxy Note 9.

The Seoul-based original equipment manufacturer recently confirmed its next Android flagship will be announced on August 9, having done so via a teaser that shows what appears to be a yellow gold S Pen. While it’s still unclear whether Samsung is actually planning on debuting such a bright gold variant of the actual handset, it appears at least one model will be bundled with that kind of a stylus. Historically, all Galaxy Note-series models featured S Pens of similar or identical colors to their actual bodies. The fingerprint sensor of the Galaxy Note 9 should sit below its dual-camera setup instead of to its right like it does on the Galaxy Note 8, with that same repositioning already taking place across the last two generations of the Galaxy S family.

The base model of the device is expected to offer 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage and while Samsung is said to be working on a configuration with as much as 512GB of flash memory and 8GB of RAM, that particular model likely won’t be sold outside of South Korea and China. Following its early August launch, the Galaxy Note 9 should be available for pre-orders for several weeks and release globally by the end of the same month, as suggested by Samsung‘s previously employed product strategies.
