Honor has just announced that its Honor 10 flagship will be getting some pretty major updates in August. The company says that it will start rolling out a new update to the device on August 3, and that the new update will bring GPU Turbo and Automatic Image Stabilizer (AIS) to the table. We’ve talked about the GPU Turbo quite a few times thus far, but it’s essentially expected to boost GPU performance on the Honor 10 quite a bit. Back when it was announced, Huawei said that GPU Turbo increases device performance by 60 percent, while it also reduces power consumption by 30 percent. So, GPU Turbo is not only expected to help with general performance, especially when it comes to graphics-intensive tasks, but also with battery life.
GPU Turbo was announced along with the Honor Play smartphone last month, and it will be arriving to a number of Huawei and Honor smartphones, while it seems like the Honor 10 will be amongst the first to get it. Now, on the other hand, an Automatic Image Stabilizer (AIS) is expected to boost the phone’s camera performance quite a bit, as it’s supposed to minimize blurring and stabilize both photo and video taken with the Honor 10. The company says that AIS will detect if the device is handheld within 0.2 seconds, and it has a 98-percent accuracy. Based on that info, AIS will set the exposure and framing using AI scene recognition, which should result in noticeably better images and video.
The Honor 10 was originally announced back in May, while its global announcement followed a bit later. This handset is now available in a number of markets, including both Asia and Europe, and it’s actually quite affordable. The device comes with Huawei’s flagship processor, the Kirin 970, while it is made out of metal and glass. The Honor 10 packs in 4GB of RAM in Europe, while it is available in both 4GB and 6GB RAM flavors in Asia. The device sports a 5.84-inch fullHD+ display, 16 and 24-megapixel rear-facing cameras, and the device’s bezels are actually quite thin.
