The OnePlus 6 Red has now been officially announced mere days after the Chinese phone manufacturer first teased the new limited edition of its latest Android-powered offering. The latest color variant of the device will only be available for purchase with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space, as was the case with the Silk White model. The new finish appears to be slightly darker than the Lava Red version of the OnePlus 5T, which the firm says is intentional as it didn’t want to deliver an “overly bright” product, though it still aimed for a bright coating layer that’s both clear and unique.
Besides the metal and glass components that make up the body of the new OnePlus 6, its rear-mounted fingerprint sensor is also red on the new iteration of the device, as are all of its physical buttons, which makes the Alert Slider stick out less. The accents around the dual-camera setup of the smartphone are still silver, as is the one surrounding the fingerprint scanner. The back of the OnePlus 6 Red is made up of six glass panels, with the limited edition of the handset being unique by virtue of the fact that it uses an extra anti-reflective layer that gives a greater sense of depth as it makes the body of the phablet reflect light from greater depths, thus breaking it in a different manner than the Mirror Black variant does. While the base red color is somewhat dark, the Chinese company added another translucent orange panel between the red ones to deliver a look that’s more “radiant” and shinier.
The OnePlus 6 Red will go on sale next Tuesday, July 10, available exclusively from OnePlus’s online storefront. As is the case with the Midnight Black, Mirror Black, and Silk White variants of the 128GB model, the red version of the Android-powered device will retail at $579 in the United States and €569 in Europe. The handset has only been confirmed for release on the Old Continent and North America so far. The OnePlus Bullets Wireless earphones will also be returning to stock on the same date, the Shenzhen-based firm said.
