OnePlus has released Android P Beta Developer Preview 3 for the OnePlus 6, and as part of this update, a number of aspects of the OS were updated. As most of you know, the OnePlus 6 was among the first devices to get Android P Developer Preview earlier this year, and this new update brings Android security patch for July 2018, amongst other things. In addition to that, this update also updates Google Mobile Services, while system stability has also been improved. On top of that, OnePlus also fixed an issue with hotspot functionality that some users have been dealing with.
As far as the camera is concerned, OnePlus listed ‘improved image quality’ in the changelog, while an issue with the watermark option functionality has also been fixed. Camera functionality with third-party applications has also been improved in this update, while the company has also fixed compatibility issues with certain third-party applications. On top of all that, OnePlus also brought a redesigner app switcher in this build (gallery down below), a stock-looking one. In its post on official forums, OnePlus also noted some issues that you may still experience in this beta build. In this category, the company listed system stability and power consumption, compatibility issues with Bluetooth connectivity, and it also noted that some apps may not function as expected when running on this developer preview release. So, all in all, installing this build on your daily driver may not be the best idea out there, but that was to be expected, this is just a beta version of the software, so bugs were to be expected.

If you do have Developer Preview 2 installed on the OnePlus 6, you will get this update as per usual, over-the-air. That being said, OnePlus did promise that Android P will roll out to the OnePlus 6 by the end of this year, so it remains to be seen when will that happen. Google is expected to introduce its Pixel 3 phones with Android P in October, and those will probably be the first handsets to ship with Android P out of the box.
