Possible pricing details of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 9 leaked from Poland, with local tech blog Spider’s Web reporting that the Polish division of the tech giant is already educating employees on the main selling points of its next Android flagship. The base model of the device with 6GB of RAM will be priced at 4,299 złoty, or approximately €990, the source claims. Subtracting Poland’s 23-percent value-added tax rate from that figure leaves a price tag equivalent to $885, which is slightly below how much the Galaxy Note 8 costs in the United States.
Minor pricing and taxing mechanism discrepancies between the U.S. and EU state members aside, the main implication of the report is that Samsung won’t be increasing the price of the Galaxy Note 9 compared to that of its predecessor. That strategy was widely expected since at least late February when the firm announced the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus, pricing them identically to the Galaxy S8-series devices. Due to pre-order bonuses, placing an advanced order on the Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus was even slightly more affordable than outright buying one of the previous two devices.
The same Polish report also states that the base model of the upcoming Android phablet will ship with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space, though that’s likely a mistake seeing how more than a dozen of previous reports suggested Samsung won’t be changing the most affordable memory configuration of its next flagship, i.e. once again deliver a setup with 64GB of flash storage. The Galaxy Note 9 is set to be visually similar to its predecessor and adopt virtually all generational upgrades Samsung already implemented into the Galaxy S9 line. The handset will be officially announced on August 9 at a new “Unpacked” event in New York City and should become available for purchase globally by the end of the same month.
