Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 leaked yet again earlier this month, having been depicted in a number of seemingly non-official renders shared by known industry insider known only by their Weibo handle “Ice Universe.” The two images that can be seen above are understood to be based on credible information about the upcoming Android flagship and are in line with the official render of the device obtained by AndroidHeadlines last week, with the only exception being the fact that they indicate Samsung may be working on a white variant of its next phablet.
According to a wide variety of previous leaks and reports, the Galaxy Note 9 will be launching in Midnight Black, Titanium Gray, Coral Blue, and Orchid Gray colors, as well as a new “Teddy Brown” variant. No other finishes have been mentioned by any industry insiders until these two renders emerged online and the last Android flagship lineup Samsung offered in white was the Galaxy S7 series launched in early 2016. The closest the company came to launching a pure white flagship since then was with the Galaxy S8 family which was offered in Arctic Silver in select markets last year, though its global availability was highly limited.
The Galaxy Note 9 is scheduled to be officially unveiled on August 9, with its pre-orders being expected to start within a week of Samsung’s announcement, according to the latest rumors. The device is said to be hitting the market on August 24, three whole weeks before its predecessor did last year, with the South Korean tech giant reportedly looking to promote the handset in an even more aggressive manner than what it usually does with its high-end products, partially due to the sales of the Galaxy S9 lineup which were below Samsung’s expectations. The upcoming handset is set to be more of a revision of the Galaxy Note 8 formula than a significant step forward, with major advancements from Samsung‘s mobile unit now being expected to debut with the Galaxy S10 series early next year.
