It seems like Amazon is testing a new, interesting feature that is expected to arrive to its Alexa voice assistant, as it will make it possible for Alexa to notify you when it learns a new answer. This info was actually confirmed by Amazon, Voicebot.ai says, while the company also confirmed that the feature will be rolling out to users in the US. Interestingly enough, you can already activate that feature, if you’d like, all you need to do is say “Alexa, enable Answer Updates”.
Amazon’s Alexa, if it doesn’t know an answer to a question you’ve asked, will tell you something like this “I don’t know that, but I’m always learning.” or “Sorry, I didn’t understand the question.”, or it will suggest you to check back later. Well, Alexa Answer Updates is aimed to amend that issue, up to a degree, as it will let you know once it learns something. When asked about the feature, Alexa said the following “If you ask me a question and I don’t know the answer, but I find out later, I’ll notify you”. You will be able to disable Alexa Answer Updates once you enable them, just in case you were wondering, so feel free to give it a go. Asking questions is one of the most used features when it comes to smart speakers, according to Voicebot.ai, so it’s no wonder Amazon is trying to improve on that front.
That being said, it’s still not clear how Alexa aims to notify users once it has an answer update, it’s not clear whether it will notify you by text, or will it use a notification of some sort. If Answer Updates is not available to your device at this very moment, don’t fret, as this feature is rolling out to Alexa-powered devices over the course of this week, so it’s possible that some of you are still not able to flip the switch. Amazon will, hopefully, release some more info regarding this feature in the near future, including an explanation as to how will Alexa notify users once it has an answer to a specific question.
