While there have been plenty of leaks of the larger Pixel 3 XL, there hasn’t been many leaks about the regular Pixel 3. Well that ends today. The Pixel 3 has just leaked out on Reddit, showing real-life images of the smaller Pixel device. Some specs are also available about the Pixel 3, which includes the fact that it is a 5.5-inch full HD+ display. There’s also a 8-megapixel camera on the back, with f/1.8 and f/2.2 apertures (perhaps Google is playing around with dual apertures this year, like Samsung is). There are some other specs that we already knew, which includes the Snapdragon 845 chipset, along with 4GB of RAM and a 2915mAh battery capacity. There’s no word on storage here, but it will likely be available in 64GB and 128GB models.
The Pixel 3 does look fairly similar to the Pixel 3 XL that has leaked out. It brings a whole lot of design cues from the Pixel 2 last year, with that “window” on the back, though it has curved corners, so that it sort of resembles a notch. The good thing is, this does not have a notch which is nice, especially for those turned off by the Pixel 3 XL’s deep notch – according to leaks. There are still some sizeable bezels on the top and bottom here, but that is likely because of the stereo front-facing speakers on the Pixel 3, and many are going to appreciate that sticking around.
Google is rumored to be announcing the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL at its annual hardware event that is set for October 9. While Google has not yet sent out any invitations for this event, it wouldn’t be surprising for it to happen on October 9. Google typically holds its hardware event around the beginning of October. So it would line up perfectly with the previous two hardware events. Google will likely be debuting Android 9.1 Pie with these Pixels as it has done with the Pixel and Pixel 2 in previous years as well.
